I love gifts

This week started out great. I came home from work the other day and there was a happy little package at my door. =)

I was so excited when I opened it and saw a brandy new Kindle Touch. I had an original kindle from about 2008-09 that my ex gave me, but vanished on my flight out to San Diego last February. I was very upset but I have now been appeased.  This super gift comes courtesy of a friend I met while I was  in Spain as a late/early Christmas/birthday gift. So far I have downloaded a bunch of the trash I love to read but I also DL Cameo the Assassin. It was on my PBS list for a long time and never popped so I bought it and LOVED it. Vamps, zombies, murder, love, its awesome. Waiting till I have $ again to get books 2 & 3.

Tuesday I went in for my yearly check up. Looks like I'm still doing good. HOORAY!! Nothing random or abnormal. I have a new doc again but at least the great state of cali is picking up the bill on this one. They have determined I am to poor to pay for my own health care. Totally not complaining on that one. But they are denying me birth control because I am fixed. Wondering why I asked for it? It helps control a lot of the pain and discomfort. Balance the hormones and balance the body. Oh well guess I get to live with feeling like squashed jello once a month for another 30 or so years now.

Today (Saturday) I took co-workers daughter out driving. She is 18, has her permit but has never driven. We drove for about 3hours. She did great. Went all the way to the coast via back roads grabbed some food and then she drove all the way back.

After that I met up with BF and Roomie we were going to go geocaching out near Del Mar. However a few miles down the freeway it felt like I had hit something in the road and it had attached itself to the underside of my car before totally flying off. NOPE. My rear drivers side tire shredded. I exited the freeway and parked in a shopping center which just happened to have a tire shop in it. HOORAY!!
I go inside and over hear this AWESOME conversation between a female customer and the service guy: "But I have tire pressure sensors, doesn't it...like...sense when my air is low and automatically fix it? Cause it goes off sometimes." The tech went on to explain how sensors work and air pressure and why it does that. To which she responds "Well can't I just pay extra and and get ones that do, do that?" I was super proud of the tech he didn't laugh in her face.
After that he checked out my car and told me that my front tires were ok and the specific tires on the rear had been discontinued about 5 years ago.....Which was NEWS to me since the man I got my car from led me to believe that they had been changed just this past year. As in the year 2011 sometime. Guess I was wrong. So AMAZING BF came to the rescue and got me two new rear tires. Sigh, I would be lost with out him some times.

Anyway...now the plan is to watch some BSG tonight and maybe go caching tomorrow. *Fingers Crossed*

Week one: I fail

Last week I said I was going to try and blog every Wednesday. So far I fail. UGH. I guess getting it in one day late isn't too too bad. Still going to try for next Wednesday though.

Work: Remember the little douchy I mentioned last week. Well sidekick and I got him banned from the office. =) Not totally banned but he isn't allowed to come in to the room we inhabit. What happened was....I had my handy dandy exercise ball chilling next to my desk ( I only use it half the day) Douchy decides since Sidekick and I are both occupying our respective desks and he can't mess with anything on them that he will play with my ball. (tee hee hee) BAD IDEA! I flipped shit. If I had gotten up out of my chair I would have seriously laid hands on him. So I did the little kid thing and hollard for boss man. BINGO there was lots of cranky russian exchanged and douchy now sits in the car when his teacher comes to the office. =D

Birthday: BF's Bday was last Thursday. Nothing super special happened. I had mentioned to my co-workers that he wanted a hookah and they all showed up at his gathering at our local watering hole and presented him with 2! Our night was pretty laid back. Dinner at the pub, lots of his friends showed up, breakfast at 2am at Denny's and then bed. I do have to say that our waitress at Denny's was entertaining. She spoke in movie quotes. If it wasn't 2am I would have been annoyed but I guess as an over night waitress you have to have something to entertain yourself.

Friends: Recently I have noticed my STARK lack of female friends. I decided that since good ol' CL has worked semi well in the past to try it again. So far I have met one girl (tall girl) and I am talking to a few others. Tall Girl lives like 30mins away which I'm not to worried about but it does make it hard since I crash out after work so early. Hopefully the other two pan out. One is really close to me like 10mins I am guessing. The other is about 30mins north, so we shall see what happens there. I am really just tired of wanting to go see a chick flick or company when I get my ritual pedi and having no one to go with.

Other bullshit: Seems like BF and I have been going out a lot lately. Really its just that since the holidays no one has had time or inclination to hang out. So this past Monday we went to Stone Brewery with some friends we last saw about 4months ago. It was ok. I mean its a brewery. What can be expected?! Beers which BF enjoyed. The food was only so so. But I'm sure it complimented the beer wonderfully.
Then tuesday we went to a place called Sublime Ale House. It has so so reviews on yelp but we were going with 4 other people which made it ok. There I had the bowl of meatballs and was very happy. I will happily go there again. =)

Right now I am fighting the beginnings of a cold =( hopefully it either goes full blown soon or goes away. I hate this sitting on the fence crap. Maybe more sleep will help.
ONE MONTH TO VEGAS!!

Guess thats all for now.

Birthday, Beer and a Peckham Event

Wow it has been a good minute since I wrote a blog. Lets see here......I had a birthday. Jason organized a dinner at BJ's Brewery for that. Had most of the people I wanted there. (Br was absent due to her move to Fla) I split food with a friend while Jason and another guy ordered two party sized Pizookie's. They are SOOOO good.
The next week some other friends arranged for me to have my very first solo pinata. It was hello Kitty since they know of my dislike and fear of cats, what is better to beat the stuffing out of?!?!

I sent Gertrude to the junk man. =( The state of Cali wouldn't let me register her because She wouldn't pass smog with out some serious engine work that I just couldn't afford. So I took her down to Chula Vista (Aka Chulajana since it is spitting distance from Mexico) and handed her over to the junk man. Only got $475 but that's a decent start to a savings fund for my next one. After that we went geocaching in the Tijuana River Basin. There is a cache there called "Non more southwesterly" it was a 3 mile hike round trip. I survived it though. Found out that we have a monument at that spot right where the US meets Mexico and the Pacific. Funny thing is though that there is a GIANT fence around the "Friendship Circle" It is technically on half US/half Mexico land. Our side is totally locked up. Mexico's side is wide open. Silly US.

I have gone off my tramadol, it started making me sick and SUPER cranky. Just dealing with over the counters for now. Hopefully I can get insurance again soon and try a new painkiller.

The bar we go to had another Beer Pairing dinner on the 6th. I was sooooo not impressed. First they upped the price from $50 a person to $75. I wouldn't have bought the tickets but I had already promised my friend I would take her for her b-day. Only about 30 tickets were sold to the entire event. We got an extra one the day of for her BF. So they were hoping to sell more but didn't. I think the price was a huge factor in that. The food was spaced sooooo far apart that I ordered an appetizer off the regular menu to tide us over between course #3 and #4. After ward the head chef came out and was non-to happy with us making that order. But not only was the food forever apart it all came out cold. UGH. The beer was nothing special either. Then again I am not a beer drinker but really out of 5 beers I didn't take more then 3 sips of any of them. Bleah. The company was awesome though.

The very next day I left for Rhode Island since my sister was getting married. I got in on wednesday, the wedding was on friday and I got back to Cali on sunday at about 1030 am. It was a quick trip. I didn't get to eat all the food I wanted but I got some: Allies doughnuts, Kingston Pizza (Couch Potato is my FAVE!), Earnie T's and Dunkin'.
Thursday night the "Ladies" went out for snacks and drinks before the big day. Not really a bachelorette party but pretty close. First stop was Earnie T's. The attendees were Myself, my mother, my aunt (father's sister), my sister (Bride), my sister-in-law (Golden's wife), Maid-of-Honor, and Sandy. We have a cute waiter who is noticeably BUFF, and the ladies flirt and tease (with in reason nothing to crude) as they pound back Slippery Nipple shots and Gin and Tonics. Sister's drink of choice is Vodka and Club, but the bar kept giving her vodka and tonic. I finally said something and told him he had to do a "jig" to make up for it. Well he didn't know what a jig was so he offered to crack sisters back as an apology. She LOVED it.

Then he offered to give anyone a piggy back ride to the car. I was nominated for the piggy back ride because Sister In Law refused. That is when the "Loaded Ladies" decided that Waiter should be my date to the wedding. Once we were all outside mom and Bride pull him aside and ask him to come to the wedding the next day and give him MY phone number. The next morning I came down stairs and showed Mom that he had texted me and was going to show up, also he requested the beef plate for dinner. =D I think she was in a state of mild astonishment the rest of the day.
He arrived a little late because of my bad directions. Meh he only missed my reading of Dr. Seuss' Oh the Places You Will Go. Came right in and sat in the 2nd row with me and the family. (Yes, I chose the 2nd row because I knew he was going to be late.) He ended up being an amazing date. Sandy from the night before had the best reaction when seeing him there. First her face was confused/recognition then she saw me standing with him and she BUSTED out laughing. No one thought he would show. He made conversation with both my father and my grandmother. Danced with my mom. Took pictures for the family and bought my cousins drinks.

Sister and all the Cousins, with Golden's Nuggets.

Mom getting her groove on!

This was a total surprise.

Saturday night we (the family) were supposed to go to Howl at the Moon in Boston, but they all were pooped. Maid of Honor and I were still stoked to go but even with both of us whining the old fogies still got to stay on the farm. We had a campfire and some smores. My friend T and her Hubby came down. She is try out being gluten free so she got gluten-free smores....just marshmallow on a reeses cup. Everyone had a good chill night.

Guess that is all the news for now. I will try to get back in to the blogging swing. I feel bad for making Br handle B & B all by herself for so long now.

Until next time....

Time flies

Sorry I haven't been around that much. Lets see here...

1) Last weekend was San Diego Comic Con. (Yes I will do a post on that eventually)

1.5) SDCC caused my back to go out hard core, it has been a full week and it still hasn't come back in place. If you see it tell it I am looking for it, and miss it dearly. I walk like my Pop and am seriously thinking about a cane.

2) My trusty laptop bit the big one =( Well not totally, more like the charging cord bit it. So I have to scrounge up $ to get a new cord. BLAH!!

3) BR is moving. So I am trying to spend as much time soaking in the greatness that is BR before the 4th.

4) Gertrude is officially for sale. If I don't sell her by this time next week she is going to the junk man.

5) I hear Jenni over at Yes! I am a bitch... is having another giveaway. Go check it out. (BTW I won her last one woot woot, and she has altered her entry process to it is easier to enter *claps*)

That is all the update for now. More in depth when I can get longer access to interwebbies.

I be pimpin

Sorry I have been MIA so much lately. Lots of shit going on as I am sure you all know. Finally got to talk to the Ex about Keagan. So I feel a little bit better about that, just knowing things are on track and going as smoothly as possible helps my state of mind a TON! His lady friend will be handling things on that end for me, which is SUPER nice of her. I am very very grateful.

There are some interesting things going on in the blogisphere that I think everyone should take note of.....

1)  Toys For Sex  is having an AWESOME giveaway. They are giving away four gift cards! 2 - $10, 1 - $30, and 1 -$50. This is how you enter Clicky Clicky. There are also an additional  52 ways you can enter (after you do the 1 required) so you can up your chances of being a winnnnnnner!!

2) I have found some awesome new bloggers to follow.

Lets start with the "normal" ones.....
Hopeless but Optimistic is a noob to blogging and she entertains me with her tid bits.

Fabulously Neurotic is written by my favorite hippie Chanel.
Issues keeps me up to date on current events and his ramblings on them.

Destery of I want you to hit me as hard as you can just plain old entertains me!

On the Sexy list we have P and C at Musings of a Drunken Student.

We can't forget the ever lovely and wonderful Jess at Let's talk about "it"

Ok that is all the pimping I can handle for now. Who knew it was such hard work?? Go take a gander, hell have a goose too. (he he he farm humor)
